Stockport Trail Half Marathon 2024

Sunday 25th February 2024

Event Details

This is the perfect race to add to your calendar as a challenge in its own right, or ideal as part of your preparation for the Spring marathon season. Now in its 10th year, this popular half marathon trail race takes place along the picturesque Middlewood Way and Macclesfield Canal.

Race HQ: This is at Marple 6th Form college again where registration, parking and toilets are situated. This is just a short distance away from the Start/Finish where food and drink are available.

Start/Finish: This is by the Middlewood Way car park on Wood Lane, Marple, Stockport, Greater Manchester, SK6 7RE. The race starts bang on 09:30, the start is staggered to relieve congestion on the Middlewood Way. We are chip timing the run and your numbers and timing chips will be provided on the day.

The "Dave Wave": If you're coming to run rather than race, this is the last wave to set off. Fronted by Dave Edwards of Sports Feet in Hazel Grove, it's open to anyone who fancies setting off with Dave. (You don't have to be called Dave to be in it....)

Registration: Opens at 08.00 There will be no entries on the day, the race entry limit is 400.

Cut Off: We do not have a cut off time, but please let us know before race day if you expect to take longer than 3 hours 15 minutes to complete the course. This is to allow us to plan for marshal replacements and delay our course dismantlement.

Optional Extras: We no longer provide medals for every runner as we are actively working towards reducing waste at our races. We do appreciate how important a medal is to some runners, but not so much to others, so we offer the option to pre-order a medal for the Trail Half at a cost of £3.50

Prizes: There are prizes for the first three overall male/female, age groups winners in 5 year age bands from age 40 and team prizes (male/female, three to count).

Marshals: We are looking for marshals to help make the day go smoothly. If you can help, know someone who can or would like more details please e-mail us at All our volunteers are offered a free (transferable) entry for a future event or a charity donation on their behalf.
