Virtual Winter Warmer 2020

Saturday 26th December 2020 - Sunday 3rd January 2021

Virtual Details

So, we can't have a mass gathering this year, but that doesn't mean we can't still raise some much needed funds for our chosen charities.

The Winter Warmer is back for 2020. It's still naked and you still run 10k but this time it's virtual.

Predict your 10km time, plot your 10km route then when you're ready, run it naked (steady now....that just means run without any timing devices, clothing is not optional). If possible ask a friend to time you.

If you are able to record your route without peeking at your phone, we’d love it if you could record your route on Strava, Map My Run etc.

Use the self register link on the your Event confirmation email to submit your time.

The person with their actual time closest to their predicted time wins.

Entries are open from now until 19:00, Saturday 2nd January.

The event starts on Boxing day 2020 and you have until 7p.m. on January 3rd 2021 to run and submit your actual times.

Entry is by donation: £8.00 (includes processing fees)

Minimum Age - 15 (Aged 15-17 needs an adult to complete the entry form)

There are no refunds or deferrals for this event - your entry 'fee' is considered a donation.

The Charities:

We've had some really good suggestions this year, all of them deserving. We couldn't choose a specific one so we've decided to spilt the donations between all 4:

SPARC - Stockport Progress And Recovery Centre

             Signpost for Carers

                        Handy Ladies feeding the community

                MND Association (Motor Neurone Disease)

Check and follow the current Government Covid-19 guidelines whilst running your 10k

  1. Apply social distancing to stay clear/give priority to pedestrians and people using public spaces.
  2. If not using the designated route consider using an online route plotter to work out your route. We favour Plot-a-Route https://www.plotaroute.com/routeplanner– it’s very  simple to use (other planners are available)
  3. Carefully select your route and consider elevations, distances, any access restrictions – you must only use Public Rights of Way, consider the effect of social distancing on your planned route (canal towpaths etc) and the period of time you will be exercising. Try to avoid popular running/walking routes or busy parks
  4. Consider the weather on the day of your run and dress accordingly
If you are feeling unwell or have any medical conditions that could be affected by taking part in the challenge, wait until you are better before attempting the challenge.
As per your normal run/walks there is no first aid cover for this challenge. If you don’t normally do so, please consider informing someone of where you are going and to check in with them on your return. Also, if possible, carry an ICE (in case of emergency) card with your details.

The challenge is run under UKA rules which should be followed by all participants
